VM44 Gas Mask Size 2Late war simplified Volksgasmaske people's gas mask model 44. It has a simplified and cheaper rubberized cloth construction. Some of the steel hardware has some rust on it. One of the lower face straps has some dry rot, enough that I did not feel comfortable fastening that buckle. Every German citizen was required by law to purchase a gas mask as well as other emergency supplies.
